Performing Arts

The Performing and Visual Arts Faculty consists of the following subjects: Art, Drama, Music and PE.  We work as a large team to offer an exciting and innovative curriculum which aims to give all students at Addey and Stanhope School the chance to develop their confidence at engaging with the Performing Arts. In Music and drama in Year 7, 8 and 9, students will have one 1hour lesson a week. In Art, our students have a double lesson within a carousel with DT and in PE all students in KS3 have 2hs of PE per week. Our key aim in KS3 is to ensure all students will develop the skills and techniques required to give them access to further programmes of study at KS4.

Throughout the year we work together on extra-curricular activities to produce popular events which include school productions which last year was the fabulous Sing It Sister (based on the Sister Act movie) as well our now famous PAVA showcases. Our PE department offer many sports clubs and fixtures throughout the year as well as the famous Inter-House football competition and our annual sports day in June.

Most recently 120 Year 9 students took part in a competition to compose the best piece of film music in the galaxy.  There were some fantastic compositions and you can see the work of the 12 finalists in the video below.  Well done to all who took part!
