I am extremely sorry to announce that our Chair of Governors, Mark Phillips, sadly passed away on Sunday 21st July. Mark had been seriously ill for a few months. He died peacefully and has been released from suffering.
Mark gave his life to education and was a leader of great integrity for decades, influencing thousands of lives across the country, and in Lewisham. More than this, he was an exceptional human being.
He absolutely loved Addeys and has played a considerable role in our development. Mark joined the governing body as Chair in 2021 but has supported the school for much longer. We will find a way to celebrate his significant contribution in time. He will be hugely missed.
You may not have known Mark, but you would certainly have seen him around the school. He worked tirelessly behind the scenes for all of us and we are enormously grateful to him for his commitment to our Addey’s family.
Barbara Smith has been appointed as Interim Chair. She is hugely experienced and a long-standing Foundation Governor at Addey & Stanhope.
